Vercom is a Polish company that offers platforms for multi-channel cloud communication (CPaaS – Communication Platform as a Service) based on SMS, e-mail, and mobile applications.
Initially, its clients were larger technology companies, mainly from Central Europe. Nevertheless, the company began operating globally in 2022 after acquiring the American company MailerLite for $100 million. It suggested focusing on the SMB sector, offering a simplified version of multi-channel communication. Thanks to this, Vercom will be able to acquire up to one million customers within a few years. Until now, the company operates in 180 countries, including the USA, India, and Australia, offering Polish, English, and Spanish services.
The company’s history of CPaaS
To begin with, Vercom was established in 2006 by people working at R22 since 2000: Krzysztof Szyszko and Adam Lewkowicz. They were also joined by the founder of R22 (currently Cyber Folks), Jakub Dwernicki, whose company acquired 51% of the shares. Vercom is developing exceptionally dynamically, building lasting partnerships with telecoms, e-mail providers, and mobile software developers. With annual revenues of $60M and a net profit of $10M, purchasing MailerLite would be impossible without obtaining additional funds. The listing on the stock exchange in 2021 helped, providing the company with $45 million. Since then, Vercom has purchased three other companies, but it plans to make further acquisitions on a larger scale. If everything works out, the company’s valuation may reach $1B in 3 years.
Organic growth and acquisitions
In fact, over the last ten years, the company has grown 40 times, mainly thanks to organic growth and good technology. It was complemented by acquisitions, expanding product and channel competencies. And geographical development as well. The purchase of the Czech company allowed it to enter Central Europe, and after acquiring MailerLite, Vercom can operate worldwide.
In fact, its owners were among the first in the world to realize this was necessary in 2008. At the same time, all companies were already using various forms of communication depending on their needs. However, large and small ones struggled with their support: deliverability, scaling, and upgrades. And Vercom had all this on offer, quickly acquiring large customers in Poland and around the world. Among them are Philip Morris and Starbucks. No wonder Forbes, Financial Times, and Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 have awarded the company many times. And the best is yet to come.
