The Polish startup byteLAKE managed to shorten the simulation duration of mixing chemicals from hours to minutes thanks to AI. It is an innovative solution from the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) category.
Optimizing fluid dynamics in a functional system can significantly improve its performance and security. For example, reducing a car’s air drag can dramatically increase its speed and lower fuel consumption. And controlling fuel flow in pipelines can improve their safety. For product engineers, it is crucial in such cases how quickly the associated simulations can be performed.
byteLAKE is a Polish technology startup that develops AI solutions for various industries and the Industry 4.0 concept. Its offer has recently included the CFD Suite consisting of a set of AI models for accelerating fluid dynamics. This cross-platform tool uses edge computing and AI engines for local inference, reducing the time to obtain results. Using the package, the user can select a CFD solver and set targets for AI models. And the program will train them to accelerate the work of chosen solutions even by order of magnitude. byteLAKE’s product was among the top five best solutions globally in this area out of over 400 tested by StartUs Insight. More information is here.
AI in CFD Suite
byteLAKE has long been using elements of AI to create its products for the chemical, paper and manufacturing industries. In the case of the former, its CFD Suite uses AI to shorten the chemical mixing simulation time. Such simulations were traditionally carried out based on commercial solutions using the so-called solvers. Unfortunately, they lasted on average from 4 to 8 hours, and their complexity continued to increase as users wanted to analyze more parameters. A new approach was needed to shorten the waiting time for results. byteLAKE uses DL and predictive inference for this purpose. It allows shortening the time of such simulations to 10-20 minutes. The production process then becomes less costly, and at the same time, allows to test many variants in a shorter time.
However, the CFD package is not all that the company has in its offer. It offers cognitive services for the paper industry consisting of AI-assisted visual inspection and big data analysis. It simplifies the detection and visual inspection of the so-called waterline and the automation of complex production tasks.
byteLAKE also offers custom-made software that uses AI elements to analyze data in real-time. For example image, video, sound, time series, and sensor data. The company cooperates with Lenovo, Intel and Tridiagonal Solutions in this area.
