StarHub Taps SunVizion from Suntech for OSS Digital Transformation

Singapore telco operator StarHub has chosen the SunVizion system. The goal is to upgrade their service delivery platforms and OSS digital transformation. It is an integrated OSS/BSS platform of a Polish company Suntech. It supports the processes of network management and service launch.

SunVizion has streamlined the management of the logical and physical elements of StarHub’s extensive network in an integrated manner. With complete visibility of network resources in one system, the StarHub team can closely track resource utilization. And proactively identify areas for improvement in performance, capacity and coverage. Thanks to the full automation of the service delivery process, SunVizion enables StarHub to quickly and efficiently deliver services to individual and corporate clients.

“Thanks to our two-year partnership with Suntech, we can focus more than before on digitization, automation and the introduction of more advanced intelligence to our networks. We are pleased that our company is consistently recognized as having the highest speed network in Singapore. We want to keep this trend because, thanks to it, we can guarantee the highest quality of services,” said Chong Siew Loong, Chief Technology Officer at StarHub.

Rearchitecting OSS digital transformation

The first step in the company’s digitization process was consolidating and replacing many legacy network inventory systems. All of this using the Suntech SunVizion Network Inventory system. It guarantees easy management of all network domains. From physical infrastructure, through transmission, to international connectivity and services.

Moreover, all network resources can be searched and the results presented on a very detailed map. It eliminated the tedious, cross-departmental effort to plan new services and maintain existing ones. Ultimately, the SunVizion OSS solution will be integrated with the BSS and Service Orchestration platforms used by the company. It will allow for the smooth and efficient provision of comprehensive services such as 5G.

Transforming business operations

One of the critical needs was to automate the service provision process to shorten the activation time. Both products and services map to the service catalog at the BSS and OSS layers. Service specifications contain rules and parameters for allocating network and IT resources for their implementation.

For example, after placing an order for an Ethernet leased line or a METRO WDM link, the system understands what network resources are needed to compose the requested service. Built-in workflows automatically handle the execution process, including commissioning external procurement systems or sending specific work orders to field teams. Such as conducting an on-site survey, last-mile cabling, and end-to-end testing.

Thanks to the SunVizion mobile application, engineers working in the field have access to accurate information about the network anywhere. Thanks to it, they can also receive work orders based on the current availability and location of the network. With all the necessary information being sent and displayed on the screen of the mobile device.

Using SunVizion, StarHub has improved the telco network management and shortened the time introducing services to the market and launching them to customers. The Polish IT company’s sale and effective implementation of the Polish solution on the highly competitive Singapore market is undoubtedly a success.
