StethoMe is Polish startup offering an innovative medical e-stethoscope for self-examination at home. It allows parents to auscultate the child at home and immediately know the result. And send the test result along with the recording to a doctor for a diagnosis.
A system detects abnormal auscultation sounds and measures respiratory parameters that are key in controlling asthma. Or may be associated with pneumonia and bronchitis. Poland is testing a new type of e-stethoscope on a group of 1,000 patients in 30 medical facilities. This is a great opportunity, especially for chronically ill patients, for a better life and medical care. The device is dedicated primarily to children suffering from asthma. The e-stethoscope detects wheezes and whistles that appear during an exacerbation of the disease. It makes it easier for parents to decide whether to take additional bronchodilators or the need for a medical consultation. It also allows solving the doubts of every parent in an infectious situation, which are especially frequent in the autumn and winter period.
Participation in TechCrunch
Recently the company decided to participate in TechCrunch Startup Battlefield 2021. It is an international competition for startups organized by TechCrunch.com. StethoMe reached the Top-20 out of 1.3 thousand submissions. This year’s selection turned out to be the most restrictive of all the editions. It consisted of 6 stages, and only 1.5% of the participants made it to the finals.
The founders of StethoMe believe that mere participation in this event – apart from prestige – will also help develop the company, including expansion to the American market. One of the richest Poles, Sebastian Kulczyk, has already invested in StethoMe through his Manta-Ray fund. Success in TechCrunch Startup Battlefield opens up new possibilities.
International activities
Last year, the money obtained from investors allowed the company to start selling the device to individual customers in Poland, France, and Great Britain. And it is the sales activities that are currently the company’s main priority. As a e-stethoscope is a certified medical device, the task is not easy because the company operates in a strictly regulated market, where implementing innovations requires a lot of patience.
