Lena Nowaczek became the winner of the Rise Global 2022 (RGW 2022) award, which was sought by 120,000 participants. She supports expanding access to mental health diagnostics for young people as much as possible. She created the Happiness Gives Strength project. It connects high school volunteers with school-aged patients through online meetings. As a Rise Global Winner, Lena hopes to spur positive change in her community. Especially around the all-important issue of children’s mental health.
Rise is Schmidt Futures’ $1B flagship program to find and support young talent around the world. The laureate first learned about Rise after a scholarship at Kingswood-Oxford School in Connecticut (USA). It was granted to her as part of the ASSIST Scholars Program. The year spent abroad as an ASSIST scholarship holder inspired her to take action in the areas of her interests. However, joining the RGW 2022 winners was a big surprise for her. The program is designed for young people aged 15-17. It offers access to benefits that can change their lives, such as scholarships, mentoring, funding, or support in career development. All because the “Global Winners” are working to solve humanity’s most pressing problems.
Lena is currently involved in many different health campaigns. She wants to become a doctor and work to increase access to medicines. She also volunteered for ASSIST to inspire other young students from Poland to apply for a scholarship to study at an American private college or boarding school.
Results of RGW 2022
Since its inception, 150,000 people from over 170 countries have signed up for the Rise program. Of these, 200 winners from 69 countries of the world were selected. They presented their projects, the topics of which were, among others: the desire to increase the availability of education, mitigate global warming, or develop a way to detect cancer more effectively.
